Hi! Is there a website where I can get free computer training (for Microsoft Office Skills) online? I am laid off and I would like to utilize some of this time to improve my skills. I know I would not get a certification, but the training might help. Any information would be appreciated! Thank you!
Thank you to you all! This will be very beneficial to me. Hope have a great one! :)

Hello there, I work for a training company here in Tallahassee. Microsoft actually offers some free training classes that are pretty helpful if you are a self starter and can learn on your own.

Take a look here:

Also, please take a look at our website

i want to open a new computer training and spoken english coaching centre in my home town Haryana (India), suggest me what is the best name for the centre that have a good meaning and looks smart.

I think ”AAVISHKAR"is the best name.and the other name is ”PRAGATI WEB WORLD COMPUTER CLASSES”.

I love to train people and computers are what I’m best at. A small part of my job now is to do software training internally and I love it. I’ve done everything from one-on-one training to an all day seminar in front of 30 people. I think it’s what I want to do as a career. How do I get started on the right path?

I would create a one page flyer showing the work you’ve done and just go around to different companies in your neighborhood and drop them off. Also call up different consulting companies and see if they have any leads. You never know.

I’m looking to start my own computer training business. Teaching Office 2003, photoshop, and other business skills for those that arent computer savy. I’m looking for ideas for advertising, business structure, or any thoughts you have. Thanks!

Business Form? Sole-propreitor for now. the other forms will not benefit you at, legally and will cost you more in filing fees etc than it is worth. At some point, if you have employees, you can change to a LLC (limited liability company) with protects like a corporation but taxes like a partnership or sole-prop (if only you).
Advertising? Word of mouth is good for starters. One place to put fliers or small ads is at retirement communities. These people are buying computers. They did not grow up with these machines so don’t even have the basics. If you can, barter your services in exchange for ads.
Be sure you obtain all the business licenses that your area requires. Local governments can be more difficult than the feds to deal with.
Good luck

I want to open a Computer training Institute which will be more specific towards Basic Computer training and Design Course like Print media, DTP, Photoshop, Flash, Coreldraw, Quark Express, Illustrator.

Can any one suggest me How much Investment required for this and how much return I can expect from it monthly. It’s for a small town.

You could go and talk to one of the reputed training institutes and try to take up their franchise.
If you become a franchisee they will help you with the setup, staff training, operation support, etc and they would be able to give you the investment required.
Talk to 3-4 different institutes and pick the one which suits you best.

I found the contact information for the local workforce center, but I can’t seem to come up with anything else. I have posted flyers in my area and surrounding areas. But other than that, where can I go to find people who need computer training? I am thinking somewhere where people are looking for work.

Do you think it would be appropriate to solicit the local welfare office or unemployment office?

If you’re looking to charge, a person who needs a job won’t be able to pay you. You can contact other business that do computer training and look for a job with them. Did you post signs at any computer shops?

I’m thinking of starting a training firm and am trying to determine the appropriate pricing and delivery methods. This would not be ‘how to become an IT pro’ training, but training for average computer users on common tasks and applications.
I’m located in Virginia. In this area, there is only one provider who is large and priced much higher than I am thinking of going.

yeah its funny i wanted a couple of buddies of mine to start one, as well, um well, some people like one of two things

convenience and the human contact, meaning some would sit in the comfort of there own home and learn online and others would rather have the human contact where asking questions and getting a answer by a human is better then a machine online.

its a good idea, look at the area you want to start in and advertise towards your target customers, (ie schools and nursing homes). what to charge depends on what your financial goals are for the business and what the going rate is in your area for that particular service.

good luck, where are you located, im here in nj
